yoga is not a means to get somewhere, as if you’re not somewhere already. it is your direct and intimate participation in Life.

vinyasa yoga

Smooth, flowing sequences layered to suit you and your unique body.

Dynamic movements are married with conscious breathing to help build somatic awareness, strength, physical stamina, coordination, balance, and a deeper mind-body connection.

Whatever your level of practice, this is an experience that can stabilise, tonify and invigorate you inside and out.

Experience with movement practices or other active styles of yoga can be helpful, but is not necessary.

yin yoga

Yin Yoga can be an ideal antidote for our full and complex modern lives - physiologically, as well as for our mental and more subtle energetic wellbeing.

Yin postures can help to bring circulation to joints and deeper connective tissues (fascia). Aside from the feeling of spaciousness or release, this can be a balm and medicine for longevity in our bodies - especially for tired, tense, or overused areas of the body. Various meditation techniques will also be explored, offering you a chance to engage in a practice that resonates for your state of being.

Suitable for beginners, seasoned yogis, and especially those with active lives who seek a balance for more strenuous workouts.

fusion classes

  • Enjoy a smooth, mellower flow that builds warmth and energy, before releasing into Yin-based postures that cultivate rejuvenation.

Designed to enhance strength and mobility in muscles, joints and deeper connective tissues (fascia), while offering time for you to turn inward. A practice to help release tension, improve circulation, and enliven overall wellbeing in body, mind and spirit.

Experience with vinyasa and yin practice helpful but not necessary.

  • An integration of slow, gravity-guided Yin shapes with Myofascial Release (MFR) techniques and meditation, for rejuvenating your whole being.

Using multiple props (including massage balls, blocks, foam rollers), MFR offers more targeted release work through common areas of tension or tightness in the body. Consistent practice can help to promote stronger, healthier connections and tissues. Meditation and deep rest will help round out the practice, inviting calm and release for the headspace as well as the body.

Suitable for anyone, particularly in complementing a vigorous lifestyle, or bringing more balance to spirit and mind.

  • A contemplative practice that aims to set the conditions for deep rest. This involves using various props like straps, blocks, and bolsters to hold the body gently in shapes which offer expansiveness and steadiness, without intensity.

Restorative Yoga is similar to Yin Yoga, but focuses on cultivating the space of ease, rather than the boundary of discomfort, or ‘edge’. Postures (asana) are often held for a longer length of time than a yin practice.

Allowing a mindful embodiment of sensations in the body, free of seeking or strain, can soothe our nervous systems towards a state of wakeful effortlessness, deep relaxation and more optimal circulation within the body-mind. From this place, we can experience a greater sense of stability and wellbeing, in meeting the changes life presents.

Accessible for new yogis and during pregnancy. An ideal remedy for relieving stress or tension, and as a complement to a more dynamic movement practice or life.

Weaving together the best of many worlds.

pilates flow

Support and amplify your understanding of the moving body, and feel the value of Pilates methods in adding postural integrity and fluidity to your yoga practice. Be guided through a warming, flowing Pilates sequence, to isolate and integrate different aspects of physical and mental awareness. Play with adapting these learnings into yoga postures and sequences. Through such practice, we can deepen our awareness of interoception (internal/somatic) and proprioception (external/spatial).

These sessions are designed to open our attention to the nuances of our bodies - full of connections, discoveries, and ever-evolving possibilities we can take into the world. Pilates Flow is ideal for anyone keen to build more core strength, balance, stability and perceptiveness in moving through space - on the mat and in daily life.

Yoga or Pilates experience helpful but not essential. Layered to offer options for all levels of experience.

learn fundamentals

A workshop-based session to focus on alignment and breath-body awareness (proprioception) in your yoga practice.

This class involves deconstructing specific postures, transitions and breathwork (pranayama), integrating this into a flowing sequence. There is opportunity to ask questions, and receive alignment cues and vocal adjustments which acknowledge the uniqueness of your body.

Excellent for beginners to explore in a supportive environment, as well as those looking to refresh and deepen their understanding.

zenthai shiatsu bodywork

Zenthai Shiatsu draws on the energetic approaches of Zen Shiatsu and Traditional Thai Massage, the remedial techniques of Osteopathy and the key principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda.

Zenthai Shiatsu works not with ‘fixing’ ailments. Instead it utilises a variety of techniques to support the body towards its most harmonious state and clear way for our powerful innate healing capacity. It has evolved to be widely recognised as an structurally effective and energetically profound form of therapy, particularly useful in working with issues of the musculo-skeletal, digestive and nervous systems.

This is a one-on-one bodywork therapy, practiced fully clothed on a soft mat. An experience beyond words. To understand more, view quiet-waves.com/

in-person

Private classes can be ideal for those wanting to build some confidence before attending general classes, or for those wishing to delve deeper into an aspect of personal practice.

Our teachers can guide you in clarifying and working with your specific intentions. Together, we can map out a pathway for practice which is informed, supportive, and meaningful.

multi-session

Consistency is key to integration. Multiple sessions offer the chance to layer up your learning, and can be scheduled around what is most useful for your intentions and your life.

This can be a supportive way to establish a self-practice (sadhana) with the guidance of your teacher. Daily sadhana is a compass, allowing us to aim attention towards what matters most in our lives. If you look to create a purposeful, integrated practice, we are here to help create steadiness and focus for your path.

It’s important you feel comfortable with your teacher, and confident in the kind of guidance they can offer.
If you’re interested in private sessions, why not book in for a free 10 minute consult?

Let’s have a chat and see if we’re a good fit together.

Dedicated to conscientious change.

es·tu·ary ˈes-chə-ˌwer-ē |

Where the mouth of a river connects with the open sea; fresh water mixes with salty ocean water, making the perfect home for myriad species to live in an ecosystem of collaboration.

Our body is an ecosystem. Widening out, the estuary community, and the communities we each partake in, are also ecologies. The cities we share. The countries we reside within. The Earth - one intricate fabric of colourful threads, none of which are un-belonging.

An estuary is a sanctuary for life, experimenting with curiosity. Yet modern ways of living hold an atmosphere of speed, productivity the enchantment of illusory connections which can cover over what is most precious to us. As a result, we feel disconnected from what is life-giving - not because it is missing, but because it is forgotten.

When we come onto our mats, it is not just a way to remedy the tension, the stress, the whatever-is-happening-which-feels-uncomfortable. It is not an ‘escape’. It is a heartfelt commitment to re-member our spirit, our minds, our bodies. It is an act of becoming present, right here, dedicated to the practice of crafting attention: the most valuable and powerful tool in shaping the experience of our lives.

Estuary Yoga Space was created as a dedication to community. More than 6 years in, we are still here to support each other through our practice and our changing lives.

Here’s to nurturing, enlivening, and growing along our journeys, together.
