Sweet and rejuvenating bliss slice rich in essential fats

Sweet and rejuvenating bliss slice rich in essential fats

This is a lovely base recipe: you can play with how you top the slice, or the spices and even take out the cacao and sub in some rose water or matcha powder.

We suggest using organic ingredients where possible. And be playful! It’s part of what builds the quality of Ojas, or our primal vigour, through the expression of creativity. Enjoy the process, as well as the tasty nourishment itself :)

PREP TIME
10-15mins

Ingredients

1/2C Dates or dried figs, soaked to soften
3/4C Almond meal (can pulse whole almonds in blender until fine)
2T Chia Seeds
2-3T Almond butter
1T Coconut Oil
2-3T Dessicated Coconut
2T Cacao Powder
(or if not using, add another tablespoon almond meal)
1/2t Maldon / sea salt

Spices
Generous pinch of some or all:

Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger, Cardamom
Vanilla powder or 1t vanilla extract

Optional
Almonds and almond butter to decorate

METHOD

Soak dates overnight, or using hot water for at least 10 mins - optional but makes it super moist.

Add all ingredients together in a medium-large bowl, and mash well with a fork. Mixture should be slightly wet but firm enough to form a dough. Add a little more chia seed or dessicated coconut if needbe.

Roll into balls, or for an easy slice, use a rubber spoon and press mixture into a baking-paper lined loaf tin or similar. You can also use any mould to make little bite-size versions. To decorate, be creative! Picture shows almond butter dollops with almond on top.

Place into freezer for at least 1 hour to set and chill. Or leave in the fridge for a softer texture. Sit down, make space, enjoy :)

Keep in airtight container for up to a week, or the freezer for up to3 weeks - if it lasts! Great for a handy snack anytime
